ABC 6 News: Rochester Civic Center North Breaks Ground

Sherman Associates joined City of Rochester leaders, project partners and community stakeholders on September 17, 2026 to celebrate the groundbreaking of Rochester Civic Center North, a $136.5 million mixed-use housing development along the downtown riverfront.

The project will bring 349 new homes to Rochester, including 273 market-rate apartments and 76 affordable senior housing apartments, helping address the community’s growing housing needs. Located on the former Civic Center North parking lot, the development will create new housing opportunities near Mayo Clinic while activating a key downtown site.

Community leaders cited the increasing demand for housing across Rochester, particularly for seniors, as the city continues to grow and attract new jobs. The Rochester Civic Center North development is expected to welcome its first residents in spring 2028.

As Sherman Associates' first development in Rochester, the project represents a significant investment in the city’s future and supports ongoing efforts to expand housing options for residents at every stage of life.
