Sun Sailor: Beltline Station development plan cruises through St. Louis Park Council votes

The St. Louis Park City Council approved a plat for development and to change the zoning in favor of Sherman Associates’ Beltline Station development on the corner of County Road 25 and Beltline Boulevard, along the planned Southwest Light Rail Transit line. Sherman is known locally and nationally for its transit-oriented, mixed-use, and mixed-income developments.

The development will include:
  • 7-story, mixed-use, market-rate building with 156 units and large commercial space for a grocery anchor
  • 5-story, market-rate building with 146 units and underground parking
  • 4-story, affordable building with 82 units (77 units at 60% AMI and 5 units at 30% AMI) and underground parking
  • Parking ramp with 590 stalls for both the development and the future light rail station, as well as a small commercial space

The use of low-income housing tax credits for the affordable building allows Sherman to provide quality housing that meets the city’s goals.

The development will include 400 parking spaces for bicycles and will plant 264 trees on the site.
