Sherman Names Shawn Nayyar VP of Hospitality Operations
Shawn Nayyar joined Sherman Associates as Vice President of Hospitality Operations. Nayyar oversees the management and owner relations for Sherman’s multi-brand portfolio of hotel properties, as well as all other food and beverage business operations. Nayyar will be responsible for developing and implementing the hospitality division’s overall operational strategies, driving operational excellence and building leadership capabilities on the hospitality management team. Nayyar joins Sherman with over 25 years of international hospitality and food and beverage experience including AAA Four Diamond luxury hotels and restaurants. Among his previous positions, he was responsible for the operations and launch of award winning boutique hotels and restaurants for a Minneapolis-based global hotel developer. While there, Nayyar oversaw the development of hotels that have been named to the Top 500 World’s Best Hotels by Travel and Leisure, and the Best Hotels in the World by Conde Nast Traveler. Sherman currently owns and operates three hotels; the Sheraton in Duluth, aloft in Minneapolis, and Holiday Inn Express in downtown Des Moines. Sherman also plans a hotel for the redevelopment of the Thresher Square Building in downtown Minneapolis which Sherman acquired in 2016. Thresher Square is located on the same block as Sherman’s corporate headquarters in the Old Spaghetti Factory Building, as well as Sherman’s latest development- East End Apartments which will feature a Trader Joe’s grocery store.
