Paula Beck | Vice President and Associate General Counsel | Sherman Associates

Paula Beck, Vice President and Associate General Counsel, works primarily with Sherman Associates’ development team on the many legal aspects of Sherman's projects, from origination to closing. Beck guides the structuring and financing of Sherman's complex transactions and provides legal guidance and direction to the Hospitality, Construction, Asset Management, and Accounting teams. Beyond the closing process, Beck works with Sherman’s Compliance and Property Management teams to ensure the success of developments that build communities. Because of her wealth of legal experience in both development and financing, she is widely recognized for her expertise and leadership in the use of tax credits, bond financing, and both State and Federal grant and loan programs. This knowledge gives Sherman’s team the exclusive ability to identify strategies and solutions that result in community-enriching opportunities. She is held in high esteem by colleagues in the legal, development, and housing arenas and has written about housing law and policy. Most recently she authored “Fighting Section 8 Discrimination: The Fair Housing Act’s New Frontier” for the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review. Prior to joining Sherman, Beck served as General Counsel of the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency. Beck holds a Bachelor of Arts from Swarthmore College and received her law degree from Harvard Law School.
