George Sherman honored with 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award by Minnesota Real Estate Journal
George Sherman, CEO of Sherman Associates, has been honored as the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Recipient by the Minnesota Real Estate Journal at the Real Estate Awards. This prestigious accolade was celebrated in the presence of nearly 1,000 industry professionals, recognizing George's transformative impact on the real estate landscape across Minnesota.
President Chris Sherman accepted the award on George's behalf, highlighting his remarkable journey in real estate. From his first investment in south Minneapolis in 1978 to the acquisition and two major renovations of Riverside Plaza in 1988, George's career is a testament to his vision and dedication. His achievements include several historic adaptive reuse projects, pioneering a new financing structure, and developing a new fire station to pave the way for affordable housing.
Since founding Sherman Associates in 1979, George has developed over 13,000 multifamily units, five hotels, and more than 890,000 square feet of commercial space across several states. His notable projects in Minnesota include the $132 million renovation of 1,303 units at Riverside Plaza in Minneapolis, the redevelopment of the historic NorShor Theatre in Duluth, and the revitalization of both Minneapolis' Mill District and St. Paul's Lowertown neighborhoods. These efforts have significantly contributed to the company's expansion into the Des Moines and Denver markets.
