Nayyar joins Sherman Associates | Finance & Commerce
Shawn Nayyar has joined Minneapolis-based Sherman Associates as its vice president of hospitality operations. Nayyar oversees the management and owner relations for Sherman’s multi-brand portfolio of hotel properties as well as all other food and beverage business operations. Nayyar’s responsibilities include: development and implementation of the Sherman’s hospitality division’s overall operational strategies, driving the operational excellence, and building the leadership capabilities on the hospitality management team. With more than 25 years of international hospitality and food and beverage experience including at AAA Four Diamond luxury hotels and restaurants, Nayyar previously helped lead operations and launch of award winning boutique hotels and restaurants for a Minneapolis-based global hotel developer. There, he oversaw the development of hotels that have been named to the ‘Top 500 World’s Best Hotels’ by Travel and Leisure, and the ‘Best Hotels in the World’ by Conde Nast Traveler. Sherman currently owns and operates three hotels: the Sheraton in Duluth, aloft in Minneapolis, and Holiday Inn Express in downtown Des Moines. The development company is also planning to build a hotel at the Thresher Square Building in downtown Minneapolis. Situated on the northeast corner of Third Street South and Park Avenue, Thresher Square is on the same block as Sherman’s corporate headquarters and planned East End Apartments, which will feature a Trader Joe’s grocery store.
