Sherman Associates Closes on Mount Washington Historic Rehabilitation Project
Mount Washington Senior Apartments is the historic rehabilitation of the first elementary school built in Independence, Missouri. Originally constructed in the 1900s, the building itself has grown through numerous additions and remodels over the past century. Sherman Associates has closed on the financing for a full gut rehabilitation to restore this historic icon of Independence and give it new life as senior apartments and service center space. The vacant Mount Washington Elementary School will be transformed into 45-units of affordable senior apartments in addition to ample community room and auditorium space. The project will create much needed housing options in the Kansas City area for active adults 55+and seniors 62+ within a quiet, relaxed neighborhood setting. Leasing activity is projected to start in the beginning of 2014.
