Sherman Associates Announces Promotions on Executive Team

Paula Beck promoted to Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Richard Kiemen promoted to Senior Vice President of Development and Construction, and Bob Lund promoted to Vice President of Facilities

{MINNEAPOLIS, MINN, March 23, 2022}—Sherman Associates recently announced the promotions of Paula Beck to Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Richard Kiemen to Senior Vice President of Development and Construction, and Bob Lund to Vice President of Facilities.

Beck, Kiemen and Lund oversee the Legal, Development and Facilities teams, which are responsible for the development and maintenance of 6,600+ multifamily rental units, 770,000+ square feet of commercial space, four franchise hotels, two solar gardens, and three Starbucks locations that are owned and managed by Sherman throughout the Midwest and Colorado.

As Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Paula Beck will lead engagement with outside counsel and other experts to support Sherman’s growth, as it expands in the Mountain West and other new markets. Beck will continue to assist Kiemen in overseeing the Development team, ensuring the continued close collaboration among the teams they lead.

Beck rejoined Sherman in November 2015 as Associate General Counsel after six years of serving at the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency. She was promoted to General Counsel in December 2016 and has since been instrumental in leading Sherman’s growing Legal team in support of its aggressive development efforts as well as leasing, contracting, and other internal legal needs. Beck was named a 2019 In-House Counsel honoree by Minnesota Lawyer.

As Senior Vice President of Development and Construction, Richard Kiemen will serve Sherman’s growing development pipeline by uniting the synergies of its Development and Construction teams under a single umbrella.

Kiemen and the development and construction teams drive Sherman’s annual production of affordable and market-rate new construction, acquisition rehabs, re-syndication of the current portfolio, and exploration of new markets. Sherman’s current development pipeline consists of over 2,500 multifamily units and over 25,500 square feet of commercial space, and it has over 600 multifamily units and 83,000 square feet of commercial space under construction.

Kiemen joined Sherman in March 2005 as Construction Manager and was promoted to Senior Vice President of Construction in December 2016. In May 2020, Kiemen took on the added oversight of the Facilities team. Kiemen’s influence on Sherman’s growth over the past 16 years is the result of his deep industry knowledge and experience.

As Vice President of Facilities, Bob Lund will enable a seamless connection for Sherman’s Facilities and Property Management teams with its development and construction process.

Lund joined Sherman in February 2020 as Construction Manager and has been instrumental in helping standardize design and space needs for Sherman’s new developments. He also has established new consulting and general contractor relationships necessary to support Sherman’s rapidly expanding development platform. Lund brings over 35 years of architectural, construction, and development experience to his critical role at Sherman.
