George Sherman  
George Sherman has planned and delivered multi- and single-family housing for more than 35 years. As principal in developing more than 8,500 rental units and more than 1,200 for-sale housing units, to date the total value of his development portfolio exceeds $2 billion.

George is recognized as an industry veteran favored by cities and development partners for his ability to commit to a vision for development and deliver the expected results.

George is involved with all aspects of Sherman’s development efforts of both the Market Rate and Tax Credit Multi-family Divisions as well as the Commercial, Hospitality, and Retail Developments.

George, in addition to key staff, oversees all of the support divisions at Sherman Associates which include:

George is a sought-after speaker at real estate development and urban planning seminars because of the wealth of insight and foresight his development experience provides. He recently served on a panel regarding transit oriented development for the Urban Land Institute. George has received the Lifetime Achievement Award in Real Estate from the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal and the 2016 Presidents Award from the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota. He’s been named an Industry Titan by Twin Cities Business Magazine on their list of 101 People to Know.  

 

Chief Operating Officer

Ron Nutting
Ron Nutting, Chief Operating Officer (COO), is responsible for designing and implementing Sherman's business strategies, plans, and procedures. He oversees the work of key leaders throughout the organization, and ensures efficient and effective operations in diverse business entities. Nutting is results oriented with demonstrated success leading team members and strategically growing organizations.

 

Legal

Paula Beck
Paula Beck, Vice President and General Counsel, works primarily with Sherman Associates' Development team on the many legal aspects of Sherman's projects, from origination to closing. Beck guides the structuring and financing of Sherman's complex transactions and provides legal guidance and direction to the Hospitality, Construction, Asset Management, and Accounting teams.   

Lisa Merk
Lisa Merk came to Sherman Associates in 2006 with nearly 20 years of commercial, asset-based leasing and lending experience. Merk's previous work history includes Vice President of Administration for Allegiance Financial Group, Inc. in St. Paul, Minnesota, and Portfolio Manager for the Technology Group of Cargill Leasing Corporation in Minnetonka, Minnesota.

Jessica Welk
Jessica Welk, Assistant General Counsel, concentrates on residential and commercial real estate development, providing legal guidance to Sherman associates' multifamily and commercial development initiatives. Welk keeps lenders, municipalities, and agencies, informed and motivated to ensure successful developments. Welk holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Middlebury College and a Juris Doctor from the University of St. Thomas School of Law.

 

Development and Project Management

Shane LaFave
Director of Multifamily Development, Shane LaFave, joined Sherman Associates in 2014 with nearly eight years of development and acquisition experience and is responsible for converting Sherman’s plan for growth in the multi-family and commercial arenas into market-leading development opportunities. LaFave holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Real Estate Studies from the University of St. Thomas.

Kyle Brasser
Developer, Kyle Brasser, oversees and coordinates all facets of the development process. Brasser brings expertise in both development and finance, allowing him to structure deals that are financially solid and deliver a strong community enhancement benefit. Brasser holds a bachelor of Business Administration in Real Estate and Finance from the University of Wisconsin- Madison School of Business. Brasser is also affiliated with the Urban Land Institute and the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association.

Will Anderson
Developer Will Anderson joined Sherman in 2012. He provides owner representation throughout the entire development process. Prior to joining Sherman Associates in 2012, Anderson worked for both the City of Minneapolis and the City of St. Paul. Anderson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota and serves as a legislator ambassador for Habitat for Humanity.

Ross Stiteley
Ross Stiteley is a Senior Developer, joining Sherman with eight years of development experience. Stiteley sources and secures new development projects, analyzes and secures financial opportunities, and oversees the design and construction processes. He holds a BBA degree in Real Estate & Urban Land Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business. 

Andy Bollig
Andy Bollig provides assistance in managing pre-development activities, analyzing potential sources of funding for new projects, and the management of project design and construction. He represents Sherman while developing external relationships with lenders, officials, and contractors. Bollig holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Real Estate Studies from the University of St. Thomas.

 

Asset Management

Chris Sherman
Chris Sherman oversees all existing multi-family assets in the Sherman portfolio, Residential Property Management, and Marketing. Sherman holds Bachelor of Science degree from the Smeal College of Business at Penn State.

Taylor Simons
Taylor Simons is the Director of Asset Management for Sherman Associates. He is responsible for overseeing all existing assets in the company’s real estate portfolio, consisting of mixed-use, luxury, affordable, tax credit, and subsidized communities. His primary role is to focus on long-term strategy and growth to maximize the portfolio value. Simons holds a Bachelor of Science from Rasmussen College and is a Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP).

 

Facilities Management

Jeff Ehalt
Jeff Ehalt is the Director of Facilities for Sherman Associate’s Residential Property Management Division. Ehalt guides the Facilities team while working alongside Low Voltage, Locksmith, Resident Services Office, and the Regional Maintenance Supervisors to better assist residents, tenants, and staff.

 

Commercial Leasing and Property Management

Darrin Dufresne
Darrin Dufresne is responsible for overseeing the commercial property portfolio, which includes vacant retail, office, and industrial space in Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, and Colorado. Darrin joined Sherman Associates in 2016 with more than 20 years of commercial real estate brokerage experience, having negotiated and closed over 675 lease transactions, totaling 11 million square feet and valued at over $725 million. Dufresne holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota and a State of Minnesota Brokers License. He received the Industrial Transaction of the Year Award from the Minnesota Commercial Association of Realtors (MNCAR) in 2004.

Stacie Hatch
Stacie Hatch works on the development, management, and closing of key commercial real estate relationships, representing Sherman in the IA, MO, and CO markets. Hatch brings over 10 years of real estate experience to Sherman. Hatch is a member of several Real Estate organizations, including the Iowa Chapter of Credited Commercial Investment Management (CCIM), the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) organization, and the Institute of Commercial Real Estate Associates (ICREA). Hatch holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa and is a graduate of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute.

Construction Management

Richard Kiemen
Richard Kiemen has more than 25 years experience in general contracting and project management. Working with Sherman Associates since 2005, he has been involved with multi-family, residential, public and private construction projects throughout the Midwest. Kiemen received a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering and holds a Minnesota residential contractor’s license.

Brad Goering
Brad Goering manages the residential sales portfolio as well as provides construction management for multi-family apartment and commercial tenant improvement projects. Goering’s more than 35 years of commercial and residential construction experience includes employment with three of Minnesota’s largest residential real estate development companies. In addition to a Minnesota, California and Wisconsin real estate license, Goering has earned numerous industry designations, is a Journeyman Fire Suppression Sprinkler Fitter, Local Union #669, and graduated from a four-year building trade’s apprenticeship program in 1984.

Residential Property Management and Compliance

Shiva Anderson
Shiva Anderson is recognized as one of the country’s most highly regarded compliance professionals with several designations and certifications to her credit. Previously with CommonBond Communities, she developed an essential model for the management of site compliance with local and federal affordable housing regulations. With nearly 20 years’ experience in the compliance field, Anderson has directed Sherman Associates’ compliance department operations since September of 2009.

Amanda Hitzeman | Compliance
Amanda Hitzeman joined Sherman Associates in 2015 as Director of Compliance. In her role, Hitzeman advises, monitors, educates and supports Property Management in order to achieve compliance with federal and state laws, as well as self-regulatory organizational rules, and polices. Hitzeman received her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology with a minor in Business and Criminal Justice from University of Wisconsin River Falls.

Jenelle Luxem | Compliance
Jenelle Luxem provides focus, leadership, and continuous guidance to all staff to ensure Sherman maintains compliance portfolio-wide as well as within our Compliance Department. Luxem has over 16 years of experience in the real estate industry with a focus on affordable developments to which she has extensive practice with several affordable programs. She holds several certifications including: Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP), National Compliance Professional (NCP), Low Income Housing Tax Credit Compliance (TaCCs), and Assisted Housing Manager (AHM).

Accounting

Janelle Hielscher
Janelle Hielscher joined Sherman in 2016 and oversee our residential and commercial property account teams, as well as our hospitality, retail, and corporate accountants. Hielscher holds a degree in Accounting from Winona State University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

 

Hotel Operations

Greg Schindler
Greg Schindler oversees the management and owner relations for Sherman’s multi-brand portfolio of hotel properties, as well as all other food and beverage business operations. He is responsible for developing and implementing the Hospitality division’s overall operational strategies, driving operational excellence, and building leadership capabilities on the Hospitality Management team. Schindler holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Valerie Doleman
Valerie Doleman, a University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire graduate, has 17 years of marketing experience in commercial real estate development, brokerage, title, architecture and finance. As Sherman Associates' Vice President and Director of Marketing & Communications since June 2014, she directs the corporate communications strategy, oversees existing portfolio marketing, and the establishment of the Sherman luxury brand.

 

Human Resources

Jeanne Luhrs
Jeanne Luhrs, brings over 15 years of Human Resources experience to her role as Sherman Associate's Vice President and Director of Human Resources. Luhrs focuses on maximizing the potential of Sherman's employees. She is charged with determining and strategically aligning the needs of the company with the needs of our employees. She holds a Bachelor's of Science from the University of Wisconsin - Stout, and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas.
